Hey, which temp is the one that I should focus on core temp or cpu temp? My core temp at idle is 23c while the cpu temperature is 39c (using HW monitor). And when the producer of the chip says that the thermal limit is 62c do they refer to core temp or the cpu temp?

Thanks :)

Which programs do you use?

And as far as the temps go, i think core temp is the temp of the mobo and the cpu temp is the real cpu temp.

23°c for the cpu is really low, unless it's in a cold room or there's some high-end cooling stuff working on it.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

I'm using CPUID's HW Monitor to check my temps, cold room pluss a H100 cooling it. I still think its wierd that it is a 16 degree difrence between the core tamp and the cpu itself.

CPU Temp is the temp of the whole CPU itself, you should look at the CPU temp more than the socket temp.

You have a 8320 right? They have a Max allowed safe temp that is 62C, it's not the MAX TEMP that it can go before it shut downs or something.

When you are saying socking temp what are you refering to? Not the 8320, I have a 1090t :)

Socket temp is the temp on the motherboard socket...

So it's neither core temp or cpu temp? lol

Post a screenshot of HWMonitor.

CPUTIN(the one that's 39) is socket temp. You can drop it by installing a fan behind the motherboard, to blow air on the backplate. It shouldn't go over 70 degrees at max. 60-65 normal usage.

Package temp, is the temperature of the cores, this is the one that shouldn't go over 62 degrees. The cooler you use affects this drastically.

This is to get a "picture" of what you should know.

yeah..

I don't have the socket temp.

In your screenshot:

The Cores speak for themselves. This is the temperature that is directly influenced by the cooler.

CPU(38 degrees) is the socket temp. This is influenced indirectly by the cooler, in the sense that if the core temps are low, then the socket temp will be pretty low. As I said, if you want a lower socket temp, do something like this :

Ok I follow you guys now, didn't understand that the cpu temp was the socket temp. I can live with the high socket temp. The highest it have ever been was 64c when I tortured tested it with prime.
