Hello, I need advice on ram. Its been a very long time since i built a pc and have been out of the loop for sometime now.

This is what im building:

Asus Maximus 7 hero motherboard with i7-4790k

Being cooled by a noctua nh-d14

I am looking for 16gigs that will fit given the tight space of the cooler.

Anyone have this setup and have any advice?

*sidenote: I seen this recommended online (having to manipulate fan higher on cooler) but i cannot find measurements to verify-

Thanks for your help!

If you can afford it get the 4790k or the 4690k

Only if he plans on overclocking. Otherwise, waste of money.

Maybe look into the NH D15, it has bigger cut outs for the RAM, but why such a big heatsink for a non K CPU?

Sorry guys, I am getting 4790k..... I'll hAve to edit that...

Just buy any DDR3 Dual Channel RAM without a heatsink, it should fit fine
