I was looking on some random page today and i saw an image of something that looked like a expansion card with RAM slots and I wanted to know if ti was a real thing or not.

That, is a RAMdisk. literal ramdisk. Yes they're real, and real hard to get your hands on one.

this is actually a ram riser card, which allows to install ram on the card and then into a different slot on the motherboard.

how do i know? ^^

but the card isnt supposed to go into your normal DDR3 slot. They are designed for other slots. probably for server boards.
