I have been working on my system getting ready to install my 980 and have finally gotten my fan curves down to where I cant hear a single fan with all of my panels off. Now over the last few days I have noticed a very annoying fan baring sound starting to come from my PC, I now know its the fan on my CX600W :( (I have flipped the fan facing up and the noise is still present). I am really disappointed with the CX600W and will be returning it and getting a better PSU.

Now I have been looking at my options and have come up with the Corsair RM650. Now I'm very concerned that this PSU will have similar problems. I know it wont run the fan below a certain power usage but I'm really skeptical that it will be much better than the CX600W.

What are your thoughts are there any other PSU options I should conciser? (I don't have much room for cables so the flat ones on Corsair PSU's have really got me on a leash)

where you will be buying from the PSU and the max budget?

EVGA 650 G2 will be way better than the RM

or my personal choice is the CoolerMaster VSM650 which is semi modular

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I have no room for cables and I really want it to be silent I would prefer to not go above 150$. I usually purchase from Amazon.

I must stress the no room for cables I can no longer fit a conventional 24 Pin connector in my system.

To my knowledge there is no 650w g2. At minimum a 750w. Which is a good candidate.

the VSM650 isnt that expensive as you think and it semi modular and the mobo power cables are long enough

Mhm. There is certainly a 650w evga nex which is okay, but nowhere near on the same level as an evga 750w g2. The g2 and p2 series of power supplies has nothing of the same quality to my knowledge, save maybe the corsair axi series which is almost twice the price.

I do like the EVGA PSU but they are not sold in Asia countries

so I only use CoolerMaster

and the Corsair AXi are overpriced here

imagine paying the price of a 280X for the 1500Watts model

I still have a monster PSU that I have yet to use it

CoolerMaster Silent Pro Hybrid 1300 watts Gold and it has it own fan controller bundled

Length is something I really need to avoid Its a 7 inch run from the PSU to MB. and I only have a 4"x4"x6" box to hold the bulk of all excess cables. This is why Im looking for something like the corsair style cables.

I was looking at the EVGA SuperNOVA PSU's but I would most likely have to shorten the 6 pin PCI-E connectors because of there bulk (This is something I don't want to do)

Corsair axi models are overpriced everywhere, which is why I will NEVER recommend them. Like I said evga power supplies of similiar quality are almost half the price here. I don't suspect it will be worse abroad.

custom sleeving?

a bit risky but if you are careful it may work and look better

I only see Corsair, Seasonic, CoolerMaster, ThermalTake,Silverstone and FSP

Among the brands, only the CoolerMaster are the sweetspot in terms of price to performance.

Before the g2 series came out, I almost went with a coolermaster power supply. So in my opinion I would do that same.

Yea if only EVGA distributes it products to the Asia market

I hardly see any EVGA GPUs let alone the PSUs and mobos

I was considering this.

Do you have any specific gripes on the Corsair RM Series?

the capactiors in the RM are known to fail prematurelly
