If you want help with selecting components, post with budget and location etc. in here http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/18-new-builds-and-planning/ . As general advice, when you think ahead in terms of upgrading, you need to look at CPU and mobo. Those are the things that usually are upgraded together. With Intel you are going to be capped at current CPUs on market only since the upcoming onces will use different socket. AMD side I don't know that much but I would think it may be same thing. GPU, RAM and drives you can change and add more easily. Like getting 8gb of DDR3 now and adding another 8gb later. Or just using iGPU for now and getting better PCIe3.0 GPU later. With drives your only limitting factor is number of ports. Most ATX mobos have 6 SATA ports, pay just bit more and you get 8.
