GX60 3CC Destroyer Issue

Hi,

 

I recently purchased an MSI GX60 3CC Destroyer laptop and encountered a serious issue. I unpacked it and went through the set up process like normal. All the drivers were up to date and so was Windows Update. I then tried to install Google Chrome but before the installation process started, the whole laptop completely froze. I couldn't move the mouse pointer or get into task manager to kill the process. Soon after, it blue screened and rebooted but, it didn't boot into windows.

 

Now, here's the problem; it just displays an error message saying the "No Media Device Detected" and the boots into the BIOS. This has happened to me three times with the same laptop. The first two times, i did a simple factory reset using the on board recovery and that seemed to have solved the issue however, once it happened a third time, i just couldn't be asked to go through the whole factory reset process. Thankfully, it's under warranty so I'm sending it to MSI for repair on Friday.

 

I was wondering if anyone would be to tell what is wrong with the laptop? I have seen this topic posted on other sites as well but there is no solid answer as to what caused it in the first place.

I have no idea what caused that. But, i would say try to return it back to the store you got it from. Or ship it to MSI for the warranty that came with it.

Thankfully, it's under warranty so I'm sending it to MSI for repair on Friday

 

Thing is, MSI only cover hardware faults. If this is a software fault, I'll have to cough up even more money :'(
