So I just helped someone build a computer and I needed a installation for windows 8.1 and I got one from one of my friends (It was on a USB drive). The installation seemed to go fine and the drivers that came with the computer all installed just fine but when I looked it seemed like most of the basic drivers were missing.which could cause some issues in the future. I looked all over the place to find said basic drivers and came up empty handed but I know that people on here have experience and are reliable when it comes to helping people so here I am.

The systems specs:

CPU- AMD A8-6600K 3.9GHz Quad-Core

Motherboard- MSI A88XI AC Mini ITX FM2+

RAM- Kingston HyperX 1866 (2x4GB)

Hard drive- Western Digital Black 1TB 7200 RPM

PSU- Corsair 500W ATX12V

Download drivers off of the motherboard's website. http://us.msi.com/support/mb/A88XI_AC.html#down-bios

I think I may have used the wrong term. Whats missing is everything in the windows 8.1 start menu except the apps screen and some of the functions (the search function seemed to not work so thats one thing). The thing that drew my attention to this is the fact that the wireless component that is built into the motherboard was not working even with the proper drivers installed so that got me thinking that maybe some of the more basic drivers weren't working (though plugging it in directly into a modem allowed for internet access).

Go to MSI's website and find your mobo on there, then download the drivers it supplies on the page.

Did you install the drivers from the motherboard website and are your Windows Updates up to date?

I believe windows is up to date (I think all of the updates were on the install my friend gave me) but I haven't gotten to installing those motherboard drivers unfortunately because its super late where I am so my friends asleep and I dont want to mess around with my friends stuff without his permission but I'll definitely install the up to date drivers from the manufacturers website and see if those work when I can.

What do you mean install that your friend gave you? Is the drive from another system?

No its a USB drive that my friend let me borrow as a boot drive. Im not really sure how he obtained it but he had it on hand and he said that it would work and it did with the exception of the issues Ive been having.

You still need to install Windows updates.

I turned off/ reset the computer multiple times during the set up process (mostly due to program installation, driver stuff) and it never updated which from what you're saying should have happened and that makes sense that it should have but it never said it was updating and I think I remember going on the microsoft website and downloading updates manually and when I attempted to do that it just said the update was already on the computer.
