So I'm having some FPS drops in certain games, and I am starting to wonder if it has something to do with my CPU, perhaps? I have noticed it in Borderlands TPS and Shadow of Mordor so far, but I've not played an enormous amount of games with my SLI setup, so there could be more. I get to spots and situations where my GPU usage goes down to 50% or less and I get a huge drop in FPS. Then I get away from that spot or situation and the usage goes way back up--and so does my FPS. Is this just some goofiness that is inherent to SLI, or is it possible that I'm being CPU bound in those areas?

My setup is as follows:

SSD

Win 7

8 GB RAM

i5 3570k OCd @ 4.5

EVGA 980 SC x 2

what is your CPU usage when this happens?

I have not. In fact, I've never even heard of such a thing. I'll look into it.

what is your CPU usage when this happens?

It's often in the 80%s for two of the cores, and in the 50%s for the other two. This seems to be a common place for the CPU to sit at, though.

check physx settings.

It is set to auto select right now. I wasn't sure which GPU to set it to, so I just left it at that. And I don't think Mordor has Physx in it.
