i have two monitors. 1 vga 1366x768 and 1 hdmi 1280x720. after setting the hdmi display to be to the right of the vga(primary) display. the desktop on the hdmi display exceeds the boarders of the boarders of the display. any windows that are maximized are cuts off all sides from the boarder of the display.  (another example would be. if i have a web browser open i wouldn't be able to see the tabs and the it would be equally cut off all the way around the display. i am able to move the mouse outside the the display boarder too. so i can grab windows and resize the window to fit but its vary time consuming and anything video i watch in full screen are cut off too making it annoying and frustrating.

any ideas on how to fix this?

system specs:

linux mint 17.1 cinnamon
dell optiplex gx620 pentium d 3.8ghz

4 gb ram
asus hd 6450 512mb ram silent
