Really bad ping?

Go to solution Solved by narrdarr,

reset router
are other people using the your network? set a QoS and static ip for your system
are you wireless? try a wired connection

if wireless use issider app on a different device like a smart phone check your wireless channel and wireless output power setting

do a dns flush through command prompt

download googles namebench and check for a better dns then set it.

So I was noticing that I was getting a lot of high ping times inside games or just disconnections from steam in general.

I went to speedtest.net

Low and behold I have a 400 ping time to connect to the test server in my town. Normal ping times to it are below 20.

this is very confusing. I've done everything I could think of. Mainly restarting my PC and hope the scary ping went away.

Here's what I'm getting on the test I just ran

(normal is 20/15/1)

Any ideas? :/

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)
