Format it. Right click on it in Windows Explorer and click Format. Make sure it's NTFS and make it a quick format. Click OK.

i just got an SSD and installed windows on it

I've hooked my old HD to my pc but it has the old OS on it and useless junk

is there a way to erase everything on the hard drive that way I've got a blank mass storage device

the hard drive ways part of a pre-built computer before i moved it to my custom built one.

Format the hdd.
