Ok I feel like this is your first build and you think that you need to spend a lot of money to get a good PC. School holidays also just started so I'm presuming that this is going to be your project for the break.
Peripherals are very much personal preference so I'm not going to comment on what you should get but rather advice on how to make a more informed and possibly better decision. You don't need to go all corsair to get a good product there are a LOT of other companies that make peripherals and I think that you could probably find a product that suits you better if you look at all of the products.
There is a lot of information so I am just going to use dot points and I can elaborate on them if you wish.

  • You presumably don't need to spend so much on a PC for instance you only need to spend about $700 to play LOL on max settings.
  • Consider a more local computer store such as Umart since you will have to pay for shipping on all of the products from PC case gear.
  • Think about colour schemes. You will regret buying a blue motherboard with red ram.
  • Do you want a small case or large case. Measure it out on your desk. Will everything fit? Do you want a window or will have your computer on the floor so it doesnt matter?
  • If you want good headphones you will not find them in a headset. Look into buying a headset and a mic separately.
  • Would it be better to two 24" monitors instead of one 27"?
  • Are you going to overclock? If your not or are only going to overclock to a small extent then understand that you only need a $30 cooler and that any other cooler will be overkill.
  • WTF do you even want to do on your computer? Understand that If you are only going to play LOL or similar game then spending anything more than $700 on hardware is overkill.
  • Do you even want a new computer? Are you just doing this to spend your money on something? Are you doing it just for bragging rights?

So with that rant over I'm going to put aside $700 for peripherals and then $1800 for just the PC and this is what I would do with my money.

I'll make a list tomorrow if you want. AU pcpartpicker currently isn't working

99% correct I couldn't have said it better myself but if he lives near PC Case Gear (which I'm about 40min away) he can just pick up the parts maybe thats why PCCG

but yea to be honest we need more info like how you are going to use it to give a better answer to your question.

Finally AUSSIE GUYS yea but I'm planning on spending about 1800 for the PC and about 700 peripherals

I'm trying to have a standard ATX size as it will go under my desk which is roughly 67 cm in height

1.6 m length btw

Ok so I'm going to play lots of FPS

BF4

FC3

Crysis 3

Preferably ( hopefully let's say )

High to ultra settings

A single 27 inch monitor is all I can dream of and

I've picked out the headset

I live in Sydney , eastern suburbs

Overclocking is in mind plus

It's a great way to get extra performance for free :) ( you know .. After the bill for the setup hits the wallet D: )

School holidays for me started today - Friday the 20/6 and finish in roughly 3 weeks

I've saved up a bit and my parents have agreed to subsidize whatever is left .

Good marks have been a blessing and well yeah

The ram is black

The mobo is black

Also Im not sure if I want a window or not because it's my own build and cable management may not be great

I've built pcs for my friends before so I have a little bit of knowledge

Still a rookie .

But if any of you guys know a place where I can get cheaper than pc case gear and it's in Sydney

PLEAASE TELL ME :D

Much appreciated :)

Ok so this is what I would do with my money considering that you will have it under a desk.

You will still be able to get an overclock to 4.2 with that cooler even if you don't get a great chip. Remember that if you do get a bad chip and you get a h100 you won't be able to overclock that much. You could downgrade the powersupply to 650W and save a little or get modular or better motherboard.

That's the whole setup I put together

No mouse I know

The mouse I couldn't find but yeah

I think I might stick with ivy bridge and I'm my gonna really need a blu ray reader

And I'm sacrificing some other stuff to get a better graphics card theotrically

There is a blu ray reader in Cosmo's build and if you are going to spend so much on this you may aswell get the latest Gen stuff. this isnt just a little upgrade to an old PC its a completely new one. With that said i personly dont know much about the hasswell stuff maybe someone can fill u in with the differences.

What's the point in staying with Ivy bridge? They are both basically the same price.

The thing about buying a $150 cooler is that you could buy a $35 cooler, have a decent overclock and spend the rest on an i7 instead of i5. The other benefit is that if you get a bad chip then it doesn't really matter since you didn't spend $150 on a cooler.

I know I'm about to contradict myself but before I didn't know that you would have it under your desk. Since this is the case I would get a cheap case without a window and not even consider colour matching the components and save a fair amount.

You can pirate a copy of windows, its very easy.

You won't really notice a difference in the speeds of ssd's so just stick with the Samsung 120gb 840

If you work out where you will buy the parts from then I can make a more refined list.

The shipping for a whole build from pc case gear is only about $55 so its not bad, but theres still that added cost. 1/3-5 Rhodes St West Ryde  2114 NSW is Umart's address if that is close to you I would recommend them as they have a similar amount of products to pccasegear and have cheaper or the same prices not including shipping.

Yeah, a 780 is what, about $600 in the USA, in Australia, its upwards of $800, before you take into account of the Australian dollar crashing over the previous and next few weeks.

Too bad too, so many PC enthusiasts down there

Are you set in the peripherals you want to get?

Changing them for equivalents could save you a bit of money that could be used elsewhere.

And do you need microsoft pro? Home premium is $50 less at pccg...

Have you considered crossfire? AMD is releasing an update 31st of July to fix the microstuttering http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/28068-amd-reveals-release-date-for-fix-multi-gpu-driver/

This is my current upcoming build I'm in Aus too. add all your peripherals to this, see what the pricing is like, G1 sniper m5 allows for SLI with a gap between cards

https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=wish_lists&wlcId=160486&action=wish_lists

Downgrade to the i5, and the HX you save another $140 off it, for more discounts change g1 sniper m5 to the ASUS gryphon

Ok update : I had a stupid crazy idea ..

Guys if you can . Try and do this build :

i5-3570k

8GB corsair vengeance ram (black)

Asrock Extreme4 ( z77 )

H100i

2tb Seaver barracuda

Ssd ( boot drive , under $150 please )

An optical drive

A gtx780 (cheapest one )

And a corair 750 watt psu

So basically 1500 dollar build USD minus a case

But ready ...

On US part picker

My crazy stupid idea is that I buy the parts in us , save some money on whatever and pay tje shipping for Aus.

Case , headset , monitor , mouse , mousepad and keyboard being bought here as they would cost heaps due to their weight to be shipped

If you buy from the US you'll have to pay import-tax.

Edit: just calculated this: if you're importing from the US you'll end up paying more than if you bought from a Australian retailer.
