I am building a gaming PC on a very tight budget and am wondering how these 2 cards compare; 750ti and the 760, in terms of a cost to performance ratio. I will probably go with a Windforce version or FTW edition depending on pricing. The newest games I will be playing would be Lords of the Fallen and Skyrim at 1080p at most. I will most likely be upgrading my graphics card to a 970 before I upgrade my gaming library. As I do not own a PC capable of gaming right now I am looking to build this ASAP.

Editor's Note: I will be playing The Sims 3, Dragon Age: Origins, and Skyrim. I will not be doing any rendering or photo editing of any kind, at most I may try some streaming with OBS.

The 750 Ti is generally a bad value until it makes up for now having to get a new psu.

What are your current specs?

Where are you shopping/located? Budget?

Most of my purchases are coming from Amazon (I have 2-day free shipping with Prime) or Newegg. I live in NY, USA so sales tax will be fairly high 8% to be specific. I am currently looking at a z97 mobo (Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI) for compatibility to upgrade my processor (Pentium Anniversary G3258) to something like a i7 4790k. I am new to both building PC's and overclocking so, I picked the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI as I hear it makes overclocking pretty straight forward and it is not crazy expensive like some Z97's. I recently got a good deal on a 700W PSU from CoolMax it's 80+ Bronze and semi-modular for around 70 bucks. I want to try to stay under 200 for my GPU at the moment so I can get this built sooner rather than waiting for more funds.

The best gpu under 200$ right now is the 280 there is alot of good deal right going on right now like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131570&cm_re=280-_-14-131-570-_-Product. For 149.99 after rebate this card will destroy both the 750ti and the 760.

If you're planning a new build and not just upgrading a graphics card, I'd suggest reading this and posting a new thread in the New Builds and Planning section: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Stay away from Coolmax psus.

What is wrong with CoolMax? is 80+ Bronze not good? I posted here because, my only question is 760 vs 750Ti in terms of cost to performance.

I never heard of that brand... I may need to look them up and also I will have to measure my case to see if it will fit.

Coolmax has some half decent psus at best but for the most part is terrible like many other no-name psu brands.

The 750 Ti's price/performance isn't good unless you save getting a new psu because of it.

PowerColor is one of the go-to/best brands when it comes to AMD cards.

When you buy amd card the two most trusted brand(imo) are power color and sapphire they are similar to evga and zotac for nvidia side.

Would you mind elaborating on this? I thought the 750ti had very little power draw.

As far as PSU's go is this a good option? https://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-rm450

Having low power draw is one of its good features but having good performance for the price isn't.

The psu is good and overkill. A decent 350-400w would already be plenty: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr
