yes you do need it for multiplayer. You get what you pay for, 99% only multiplayer, and if you're lucky some games that you like may be on sale for ps+ members, and you may get a free game that you like but those games are mostly indies

If you buy a lot on PSN it might be worth it... I have PS+ for the free games on Vita, PS3 & PS4, and the cloud save feature for my PS3... so to me it is worth the price...

On PS4 you need PS+ to play online with your friends...
