Well if cost is the most important thing to you, then a custom loop is probably not for you. You can find cheaper custom loops in the Swiftech h220 and XSPC raystorm 750. They run around $140-$160 and should give you much better performance than a closed loop system. Time will tell with the Swiftech H220. If you are looking for just a CPU cooler they are good options. However i believe that they will really lack performance if you try to build to big of a loop using either of these.

If you are just looking to just cool a CPU i would stick with air. The initial investment into water cooling is rather high but adding and upgrading it is what makes it worth it. So if you want to some day cool your whole system with water then save up the money and do a loop right. But if you are just looking for a CPU cooler stick with air or a closed loop.

Look at used parts, you can get things for half the price.

If you are going new, the pump is probably going to run you $60, the water block will be around $60 (I got a used apogee XT for $35), and the reservior will be at least $25, not factoring in sales. The radiators vary in price, depending on what you want.

ebay is good' date=' i got a full kit(pump, cpu block, 2 res, rx240 and a rx360) for about 200.[/quote']

I have to double on this.

I got a Laing DDC + with a bay res for $50/£35. Best deal ever.

Rads usually go for £20/$30

so just search up pc custom pump kit?

I doubt you will get a second hand kit. You will have to buy separately and it might take a few months if you're patient to wait for the best deals.

Also watch out for clouded reservoirs.

Ask if people used dyes in their system! Try not to buy parts that used dyes before.

Also if you do buy clean out the component first with distilled water.

I always go on ebay and save; watercooling, used as a search and have them email me every time a new thing is uploaded when im actually looking for something.

In eBay also use categories, there IS a water cooling section of categories with pump, res, etc.

Feel free to PM for any water-cooling questions. Check out my profile for more ways to contact me.
