You will be able to OC, it will not cause an explosion (That;s what PSU protections are for :D)

I think you would be fine looked at this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-290-and-290x,3728-4.html seen one R9 290X OC hit a 400W max, not sure about the possibility of OCing the cards.

You'll be fine: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9l-290x-hawaii-review,3650-29.htm. An 8350 at stock will use about 180 Watts.

edit: well, seems like @cesrai's link gives another result. You might have to downclock a bit, but drawing too much power from a PSU simply causes it to shut off, not explode.

That's the entire system, plus it only peaks at that for a split second. I would be perfectly happy running 2 R9-290's on a 650W

So your point ? he going with R9 290X and I know it's the entire system it's not like this guy will only run the GPUs with nothing else, I know it's for a sblit second but at the split second both of them can reach 400W -OC- and the PSU may shutdown.

Thanks! But I seem to have derped up with the cables. What do you guys think I should do?

First monitor:

HDMI or DVI-D Dual Link

Second Monitor:

VGA or HDMI

I was expecting to use the VGA to DVI adapter, but it turns out that the card has DVI-D Dual Link instead of the normal DVI-I.

Anyways, would a DVI D Single Link cable work with the DVI D Dual link stuff?

1080p for the first monitor, 1050p for the second.

Both HDMI will be fine then assuming 60Hz. If 144Hz then DVI Dual link

1080p for the first monitor, 1050p for the second.

You would be fine using any of the cables and yes a signal link DVI-D cable will work in a dual DVI-D plug or whatever it's called, I would say use DP or DVI because it's secured and you won't be able to unplug easily.

Nowhere unless you get an active adapter which introduces more latency because DVI-D does not carry an analog signal natively. You need either an active adapter DVI-D to VGA or passive adapter DVI-I to VGA. You can find that at any hardware store really

Well VGA is only there for compatibility with old devices. VGA is pretty much dead right now. use HDMI instead if you can

Weird... HDMI is working, but I needed to set it to 1600x900 to work. With VGA/DVI-I it was 1680x1050. Any reason why it did this?
