Workstation AMD or Intel

What would be better AMD or Intel for a workstation? Could Firepro cards be used on Intel? What is better Firepro W4900 or Firepro W5000 or Quadro 5000?

Firepro cards work with Intel and AMD CPUs, much like how Quadro / Tegra cards work with Intel and AMD CPUs. For a workstation I'd recommend a 5820k / 5930k / 5960x (budget depending) or a Xeon processor.

 

As for Quadro/firepro cards, I am not too sure which is best.The most expensive one probably is.

for that money go 980 older WS cards are really not worth it but between the 2 the quadro is better

sometimes you need features and reliability of the WS cards as much as you need the performance.

W5000 and K5000 are in different price brackets... W7000/W8000 would be around k5000 performance... might be cheaper to.

Do you use CUDA or OpenCL? are you open to both?

They're stable for what they're good for. a high end consumer card sometimes can't beat a less powerful quadro. Not to mention ECC ram
