GPU Upgrade Question

Go to solution Solved by Fate,

R9 270(x) would be much better.

As a new poster on the forum, I greatly hope that this is the right place to put this.

Anyway, I'm planning on upgrading too a GTX750 Ti SC (superclocked) someday soon. Probably within the next two weeks. Anyway, the reason I'm posting on here is I'd like to know how I can maximize my system performance running in 1080p whilst sticking to my current budget and PSU restraints. I have a few questions regarding this.

  1. Is this the best card for 140$ that I could buy ? (we're talking brand new, not used prices)
  2. If not what would be a better card?

That's really what I'd like to know. Will of course respond to any input! I'm running 2 monitors on this system, one of them being 1080p the other is 1680x1050. (that one will NOT be doing any gaming)

PC Specs:

CPU - AMD A8-6600K CPU with APU built in as a Radeon HD 8570D

Ram - Two 4GB sticks of DDR3 (Adata)

Motherboard - Gigabyte F2A55M-HD2 (sata II)

Storage - 4 HDDs of various sizes

PSU - Antec 450Watt PSU

(Keep in mind when responding that I am limited by the PSU wattage)

Thanks for your responses!

Really? I don't particularly like AMD parts. I went with AMD because I was on a budget for the CPU. Nvidia works better as far as personal experience.

I mean if you want to get much less performance, be my guest. Nvidia isn't competitive in price/performance right now on most of their cards.

The next best thing is a 760 and the 280x for the same price destroys it.

I can't get a 760 as my PSU doesn't have enough amps from what I've looked into.

If you don't want AMD, then you have 2 options: waste money on a lower end part, OR, grab a crap ton more money and go for the gtx 970. Oh, there is also the option of waiting for the gtx 960 and pray that it launches within your budget.

No fanboyism please. Amd is a great brand.

I can't really do MIRs, so it's not really an option. It's a 140$ cap regardless. I'm already pushin it with price as it is. Anything less than a 750ti would be a waste of money. I think this is good enough, I simply was wondering if their was a better option at this price point. EDIT: It appears I can get an R9 270x at 130$ should I just do that? Not have any PSU issues?
