Okey, so i bought a lot of new parts for my PC the 17th december or something, and started the build the night of the 24th. One thing i notice is a pin that looks like it's bent. But since this was my first time ever building something involving a CPU and a motherboard and everything, I didn't think it was completely bent, and I just kept on bulding.

The parts i bought is:

- MSI Big Bang Z77 Mpower

- MSI Geforce GTX 680 Lighting

- Intel® Core i7-3770K Processor

- Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 16GB 2x8Gb

- Corsair H60 Hydro Series CPU Cooler

And I used my 3 year old PSU which is a Chill Innovation CP-1000M 1000W Modular, and that WORKED completely fine in my old PC gaming setup.

When I was done, and I tryed to start it, it turns on for 1-2 seconds or something and then turns itselfs completely off.

I then automaticly thought it was the bent pin in the socket. So I sent the motherboard back to the shop, and got a new one.

Second try:

So one week later I try again, with a new Msi Z77 Mpower motherboard. The same thing happens. And at this point I was pretty annoyed about all the problems.

I send the motherboard back, and they mail me, and says that the board is defect.

Friends and "Facebook-friends" told me that it could be something wrong with the ram, or PSU. So I ordered a new motherboard AGAIN, and I sold the Corsair Dominator ram (relax, they did work) and bought the Avexir MPower Edition Series DDR3 1600MHz 16GB 4x4Gb. (They look so much better with the motherboard ;D )

So hey! Guess what... I tried a new motherboard with the new ram yesterday, and its the third time i try, and it does not freaki'n work...

SO, I have some options:

1. I can order a new motherboard and just think that ive been unlucky, and gotten three dead motherboards. And that the next motherboard will work.

2. I can order a new PSU, and try that on the motherboard i have now.

3. I can order a new PSU AND a motherboard, because the motherboard I have now may be defect.

AND an important question. Can a PSU give the motherboard to much power and then damage the motherboard? On Chill Innovations website is says "1000W continuous load", is that normal for a 1000W, considering that I dont need that much.

The CPU cooler does work. The Cpu does work. AAAnd the Gtx 680 does work ;)

So have anyone had these difficulties, or know what i can do?

Please help... 1 month has gone by now... Any reply would be appreciated :)

Could be allot of things.. these are the sort of problems we need to see for ourselves, but i'll try to help you out.

1. make sure you have put everything together perfectly, not forgetting anything. (mobo standoffs etc..)

from your description, and from my experience, the cause of your issue is almost certainly your psu. see if you can find another psu just to check instead of buying a new one.

2. have you tried powering on the board without anything connected to it? it should power on even without a cpu for that matter, so if it still turns off with nothing connected and bearing in mind you've switched 3 boards already, again buddy - PSU..

wouldn't it be better, to short the PSU to test it self by bridging the 24pin? if this does not work your PSU is 100% defect. If it turns on you Mobo may be defect or got destroyed by an half defect Mobo

Not all psu related issues can be detected by your method, also I did not get the impression the op is a tech\electric savi guy. I believe that if he gets his hands on a psu only for testing, he will get the answer he is looking for.

try to see if the PSU is working correctly.....

juts use a wire to bridge the green wire and any black wire on the 24pin connector to get the PSU turned on.

if it turns on it 95% time is working.. but i would try with a new PSU too just to make sure

Do i really need to test it, when I know that it works perfectly in the older pc gaming pc? how to i know that it might be the PSU that kills the mobo, so i dont kill the next motherboard i buy.. ;) haha
Again buddy - test your current rig with another psu. simple as that.
