CPU upgrade gone VERY wrong.

Go to solution Solved by Jack.EXE,

I ah... Found the issue....

There was a cap broken off under my GPU... xD

I shall be buying a new motherboard, and selling my old GPU & Athlon

I finally got to swap the 1100T into my system, it recognised it in the bios, but when I try to boot?

I get a black screen with a blinking cursor, and rapid bios beeps.

The last thing that POST says is "Checking NVRAM"

I need your help guys!

I have tried clearing cmos.

Can you get into your UEFI or BIOS, if so try updating to the latest version, if not then put your old chip back in and update it

An update might be required to support your CPU

Get the amd cpu box, read the cpu microcode: post it here and let us help you.

It only can be

HDE000ZFBGRBOX

or

HDE00ZFBK6DGR

bought used, came in a little foam shell & a cardboard tray, the whole thing wrapped in plastic.

Yeah, maybe.

I can get into the bios just fine, actually.

Is the CPU recognized in the BIOS?

Yeah, same old problem with Sandy Bridge motherboards, sometimes you needed to get a Sandy bridge, update the mobo and then put in the Ivy Bridge.

Do that mate.. hopefully it'll work. if you don't have one, go to an engineering store..

Mainboard 1100T Black edition supported microcode: HDE00ZFBK6DGR

Amazon 1100T Black edition microcode: HDE000ZFBGRBOX

99% sure they're model numbers. DGR represents OEM (Tray) processors shipped and BOX represents boxed (i.e. Retail) processors shipped.

I'd clear the CMOS using the battery, put the new CPU in and see if it posts, but as others have said you may need a bios update, Phenom X4s and whatnot were either C2 or C3 stepping, Thuban hex cores are E0 stepping.
