powershell keeps closing right away!!

Hey forum, I'm trying to run a powershell script i have saved by right clicking it and then clicking on run with powershell but as soon as i click that i can see the powershell window open and then immediately close. I've run this script before on my old copy of windows. Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it? Thanks

What kind of script? Maybe try to run it with administrator rights?

What is your default execution policy for Powershell? On every machine I have worked on, I have had to open Powershell, change the execution policy to unrestricted, then run the script from within Powershell.

The execution policy most likely is resetting when you close Powershell (normal). Open Powershell and set your execution policy. Navigate to the directory containing the script. Type .\steamwatcher.ps1

Note: quotation marks will be used as the delimiting character for commands. You do not need to type them.

 

1. Open Control Panel> Administrative Tools

2. Right click Windows Powershell and click 'Run as Administrator'

3. "set-executionpolicy -executionpolicy unrestricted"

4. "cd C:\users\%username%\downloads\steamwatcher" (replace '%username%' with your username (if the script is saved elsewhere, you will need to use that folder path instead of this one))

5. ".\steamwatcher.ps1"

 

That should run the script.
