I hope that if no one knows for sure that Linus may be able to shed some light on this question.

My wife is a professional photographer and her skills and work load are getting to the point where she needs to upgrade her PC equipment to a more professionally centered build.

I recently bought her a Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and after the first of the year will replace her current PC with a build including an Asus pa249q Proart 10-bit display. To feed that monitor I understand that she needs a graphics card that can output 10-bit color depth and also a piece of software that can produce a 10-bit image. She has Photoshop CS6, so the last piece of the puzzle is the GPU.

Concerning the GPU, I have been researching color depth quite a bit and I thought that I understood that 10-bit color depth is reserved for Workstation Graphics Cards and not Gaming cards. However, I recently learned that Nvidia and AMD cards both support Deep Color and that term seems to be interchangeable with 10-bit.

So, it seems they may be the same thing, but I have only seen one page that uses both terms and says that they are interchangeable. I was just wondering if there is anyone on here that can verify if using a Nvidia GTX card will produce 10-bit color.

Thanks!
