So I think I'm getting EMI interference from my GPU through my headphones. Yesterday I removed a fan from my case and when I plugged everything back in and started a game I heard a high-pitched screeching noise. The noise only appears in games, I believe it's because of the GPU clock going up. I've reinstalled drivers for my HD Audio. The problem goes away if I plug my headphones in through my monitor, but I can't do that because it doesn't have a mic pass through too so I won't be able to use my mic. I've read it might be a ground loop, but it only appears when my GPU clock goes up. I've even re-built my PC to no avail. This wasn't here before I removed the fan, and yes I've tried replacing the fan to no avail. I've tried a sound card but the only one I have is a $12 PCI one that has a lot of noise coming from it. Any help would be great, thank you.

Edit: Yesterday I also had interference from my mouse but this seems to have been resolved on it's own. I also have no screeching in the BIOS.

(PS: I know I've posted this already, but I didn't get help and I also have much more information.)

Intereference like that is hard to get rid of.

Try unplugging EVERYTHING. from the back of the computer, except what is necessary (like, start a benchmark to get the squal and start unplugging everything) and see if it goes away by unplugging something.

Otherwise, a nice USB soundcard would be a good fix.

I think I might just have to go with a soundcard. Can you recommend one? I've tried unplugging everything from the back, and it seems the mouse interference is back too.

That's the most economical option under $100. Other options are the Fiio E10k and the Shiit Fulla if you must have other recs.

Too bad that's not really a desktop solution.

It can still be used on desktops.

Also used FiiO E10s (not the K version) can be had for around $50 on ebay.

Yeah this one but how can you make sure if it's original not a knock-off ?

I've never heard of any knockoff E10s but if you ask for the original packaging, there is a code on the label that you can enter on FiiO's website to check for authenticity.

Is their a protection for the customer if they fall for fraud in ebay ? amazon has one.

If you mean automatic as it's applied to every purchase then yes. You still have to go through the steps of talking to the seller first and then filing a claim if it gets to that point.
