So about 6 months ago I bought a HP Proliant DL580 G2 on eBay for £35, which I thought was a bargain. It is massive and sounds like a jet engine when powered on, with no options or possibilities to replace the fans or reduce the fan speeds.

So now i'm looking at building a micro atx linux PC to use as a a server mainly for minecraft Gmod, and other games, and maybe plex.

This is what I've come up with so far, do you think I should stick with the G3258 or step down to a G3220.

Give me any other advice you have as well.

*edit* Also what Linux distro would people suggest, i'm thinking either Debian, Ubuntu or CentOS

If you took that HDDs for RAID don't expect to do that via hardware on that MB...

Yeah, I couldn't find Raid cards on partpicker looking at something like this http://www.ebuyer.com/123967-startech-com-4-port-pci-sata-raid-controller-adapter-card-pci-sata-pcisata4r1

I'll add the custom part now
