Read, i need help with something.

Go to solution Solved by Quaker,

So will a motherboard go in the bios even if it doesn't support the cpu i want in the bios version it comes with? it supports the cpu at later versions and the cpu is the same socket.

In this case, the motherboard should work without out-of-box support in the BIOS, since the newer A10-6800K is mostly just a speed bump over the earlier 5800K. The boot up screens may show "unknown processor" and/or run at the incorrect speed, etc, until the BIOS is updated, but it should run well enough until then.

Hey guys,

I'm planning on a buying an fm2 socket motherboard the ''AsRock fm2a85x extreme6'' and im planning on buying the ''a10-6800k'' CPU, the board itself might not support the cpu right out the box but i want to know if the board's gonna let me go in the bios to upgrade at the very least or if there's anything i can do in case the cpu is NOT supported right out the box?

Thanks in advance,

PCGamerDR.

Edit: Contacted asrock support and waiting for their response, i also forgot to mention i might be buying all these by the end of this week.

You can probably upgrade the BIOS to support the APU.

Don't use the auto-update BIOS in the BIOS. I did with my Extreme4, it was bricked as it froze halfway through it.

ASRock sent me a BIOS chip with the latest BIOS pre-installed, but still. Was annoying not having my computer for a while.

Still, I love ASRock as a company. I just don't like their BIOS features. At least they work to make it right.

Did you auto-update from an USB Stick or from the net-update in the bios? and i also doubt AsRock is going to send a bios chip to my country, i'm currently living in Dominican Republic.

Yes, i know i can update it but the board doesn't support the CPU right out the box that's why i want to know if i can at least get into the bios or DoS to update it.

Net-update.

So with an usb stick it might work IF i can get into bios? that's the answer i want xD, if the board will let me get into bios since i will be building this from scratch right out the box, that is the question.

Maybe.

Not the asnwer im looking for but thanks for the quick replies...xD.
