Last night I'd been speaking to my mums boyfriends about PCs.

Currently he hasn't got me anything for Christmas which doesn't bother me at all but what he said later on made me really think.

He told me that him and my mum will give me £600 to contribute towards my PC.

I currently have £600 pound saved up but I won't actually have a job come February.

My first dilemma is should I just go for it and get the pc or should I wait to see if I get a job and be stable with money saved up?

The PC I have decided on is this - http://www.scan.co.uk/3xs/shared/ce4c91b6-63d8-4687-be94-dc4c2ea3363b

I won't be building it myself due to me being scared of breaking things (Yes it's a possibility with me)

SNIP

Sort out your job first

also you should build a PC instead of buying one, although that scan one is decent (great company too)

I'm scared of doing it because I don't have the knowledge or experience of building a pc before

Its super easy, and its a great place to learn, its a good kill to have and you will have a much greater appreciation of computers and what components are inside

you will save money too, and it only takes a couple of hours to complete a build, even for a first time user

You'll be fine its just a matter of following the instructions and touching things in the right places, oh and making sure you ground yourself.

The motherboard manual litterally has almost a full guide on building the core components together, installing the RAM, which socket to put it in, the CPU installation, the CPU cover installation, the CPU cooler installation (if you have a custom one follow the instructions with that), it has how to reset CMOS, configure and update the BIOS some motherboard manuals even show how to get the Windows install going.

If your a bit scared go to a boutique system builder and ask if you can watch or help.  I'm sure they will allow you to as long as you don't break anything thats not yours, but that could give you confidence.

It took me 6 hours to build my first computer, 2 hours finding screws and 2 hours installing the God damn Hyper 212 EVO.  Never getting that damn bloody cooler again.

I think I'd be able to install the RAM CPU and GPU but the electrically wiring would proved difficult plus I don't know how to overclock at all which is something I would definitely want to do

Overclocking is as easy and searching Linustechtips on Youtube and watching one of his tutorials.

The electrical wiring is the easiest bit, you plug in connectors, follow motherboard manual for front panel connectors.  Boom!

the wiring is the easiest part, sometimes its cramped and fiddely but that depends on the case layout etc, but cables are labeled, and the motherboard is labeled, they also have pins missing so that they only fit in one specific way

You will find with all computer parts every single connection and components is keyed so that it only goes into one place, in one specific way

We can help you spec up your dream computer with the best components for your money

For Overclocking, the shop will only do a basic overclock anyway, overclocking is something you really have to spend time doing and is sometime to learn for the future

That is badass thank you!

This may be a stupid question but if I was to put Leds in the case I'd need to connect them to the PSU correct?

Maybe some other legend like Dota 2 or StarCraft 2 ...

... Life is a game and the checkpoints are your birthday , you will face challenges where you may not get rewarded afterwords but those are the challenges that help you improve yourself . Always live for tomorrow because you may never know when your game will be over ... I'm totally not going insane in anyway , shape or form ... I just have broken English and an open mind ...
