Mini Mid-Grade Gaming Rig Feedback

DigitalDuck22

Hi everyone!

I was hoping to get a bit of feedback on this build. I'm going for a mid-grade mITX gaming build with some room to grow. My original gaming rig was a lower-end $700 build. This new mini fella is around $1200. Please feel free to give some feedback. I'm especially unsure about the power supply and the graphics card pairing with the CPU. Thanks in advance!

Looks fairly good, but i'd ditch the 16gb for 8 and push for a z97 board or a R9 290/280.  Also maybe bring the 80+ gold PSU down to a 80+ bronze for a more budget-oriented build.

Also PCPartPicker please :)

Looks good to me grab a 290 or a 280 instead or if you can push your budget grab a 970 also maybe go with 8gb if its only for gaming

Yes Yes Legalize Gay Marriage sure, but have you ever considered Weaponizing Gay?

Hey DigitalDuck22,

It looks like a great build. Gaming rigs require 8GB of RAM, i5-class CPU and all the rest of the funds should go towards the GPU as it's the most important component.
Regarding the storage, WD Black is indeed a gread drive for gaming and high performance. But since you have the SSD for the more demanding games, you could go with WD Blue. It's designed for everyday usage but it can handle moderate gaming. Here's a link: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=770

What about this? Just switch out the i5 for another one that's overclockable and throw in an SSD! (I have a non-K CPU cause it's cheaper, that and it's a Z97 board with AC wifi for 116 bucks! why not?!)

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

Thank you all so much for your feedback! So what I'm seeing, drop the RAM to 8 GB and the mechanical hard drive to a WD Blue, then spend the difference on a higher end GPU.  That sounds like a good plan!

I'll definitely post some build logs over in that forum once I assemble all the components.

Again, thank you so much!
