So I have an i7 3770 with 8gb of ram (1600mhz) and I just bought a gtx 970

The thing is, in games like bf4 for example my gpu usage won't go past 70%, still It's always at 60fps+ probably 80 on average.

Same goes with FC4 and Assassin's Creed Buggity, except assassin's creed won't go past 45fps.

What could it be?

The GPU usage part sounds like a bottleneck, but that CPU is way more than enough for a single 970 (so no bottleneck), what are your CPU/GPU temps at?

Have you installed the latest drivers and uninstalled the previous ones?

RIP in pepperonis m8s

Yes, latest drivers installed temps around 60c° both when playing also ambient temp is like 25c° so yeah.

I'm running FurMark now and it won't go down 98% usage

Quick Test.

Disable core parking completely with https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/ if you have not already and do more tests in your Games with this (non restarting) tool.

2nd Quick Test

Disable Hyperthreading in the Bios and check your Games/usage again while playing/whatever you did before.

If your back to relatively normal performance with 4C/4T over 4C/8T ,.....This would mean either keep it off or leave it on and overclock.

Third Test, not so quick.

Uninstall your drivers, rollback to a previous set/or previous yet again... to see if it happens there too.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Thanks for the suggestion.

Also, i just tried running FurMark and Unigine Heaven 4.0 and some other cpu benchmarks also.

It never went down 99% usage.

My unigine heaven 4 benchmark:

I kinda think that it may be some kind of problem with those games in particular I named early, because in other games it never goes down 99%

There is also the possibility that your motherboard bios could have had some updates, and you have not yet checked/applied them.

Your bios screen (when your in it, on the main page) should have a verison number, or it will be somewhere, compare this version to the latest online available one from your makers website.

Updates to Bios's can fix certain quirks that can produce a number of problems.

what about other games?

I tried Shadow of Mordor and it was 99% all the time, same with Witcher 2.

The weird thing is that in all games except battlefield even though vga was at 70% fps were ok, in fact I checked on youtube and people with the same card were achieving the same fps as me, again except for bf4.

Could it be some weird Afterburner bug?

Battlefield is known to have some issues sometimes...i would try to wipe it off and re-install it if it's not too much of an hassle for you.

Yeah, i'll try that.

Looks like I picked the wrong games to test my new card.

i had issues in the past with BF3 that was running at sub 60FPS with my current machine (see signature for specs) i re-installed it and now i'm mostly above 120fps in that game in most maps.
