Difference between 4690k and 4670k?

Looked on CPU boss and it had only a 0,1 point difference with the 4690k at 7,4 and the 4670k at 7,3

Is it that the marginally better chips from a batch are 4690k's and the rest 4670k's? (just guessing)

Pretty unclear.

The big difference is when you're overclocking. 4690K gets noticeably better temps

they've added some capacitors on to the cpu itself to help with better power delivery and that allow for more stable overclocking...but mostly the thermal paste between the chip and the HIS as been improved from mayonaise to something somewhat decent.

4670K and 4770K should have not existed, 4690K and 4790K should have been the CPU's released in the first place, intel has cut some corners to save some money at our expense.

I still enjoy my 4770K it's not THAT bad i mean i can still get 4.3Ghz under an hyper 212 cooler and my chip is ''average'' at best so some of them are even better...but the refresh are better even though

they perform the same they run cooler, should last a little longer overall and should also overclock a little bit better as well.

Oooh, thanks :) It is a not really clear to me why they would make 2 i5's this generation but okay.

The first generation Haswell i5 4670K (as well as i7 4770K) got pretty high temps under overclocking due to it having poor application of thermal compound between the bottom of the metal plate heat spreader and the CPU die itself. They got to really high temperatures when overclocked, which made them relatively worse overclockers then the previous generation Ivy Bridge. The only way to fix this was to remove the metal plate and re-apply thermal paste yourself. In order to please overclockers who wanted to get the most out of their CPUs without doing this, the new Haswell "refresh" G3258, 4690K and 4790K were released with the issue fixed from the factory.

Haswell vs Devil's Canyon , Its simple you see websites like Cpu Boss and Gpu Boss although they give datas regarding the products , its not that quite accurate . All changes happen when you build a pc with both processors and then test them , Haswell has better Passmark ( Overclock) score where as Devil's Canyon are newly released than haswell and also offer better temps in overclocking.

Personal advice Go for 4670k great performance at low temp .
