okey i have a MSIZ77MA-G45 and i have no space to a RAID card.

i have to OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 128GB in Raid0 but i need more space and the side i normal buy from have som really cheap Samsung 840 Series MZ-7TD120

so is it a good idea to RAID0 2xOCZ_vertex4 + 4xSamsung_840 from the Z77 chip ?

BTW i know i dont get the speed from like a read card but the speed i have now is just fine. I need more space.

so what good and what bad about this idea i have ?

WHY!!!

Different SSD controller. I don't think it'll work, but not sure.

onboard chip will likely fail ?

to be sure i really dont care about if they fail after like a year. lose data is no problem, all i have can be reinstall

but with that sad i dont want to reinstall windows every month but if it can last more that a year, am okey with it.

so how bad is it to use all port on my z77 to RAID ?

WHY!!!

You can raid them all on the mobo at RAID 0 as stated by the specs of your motherboard in the link you provided:

• RAID
- SATA1~6 support Intel® Rapid Storage Technology enterprise (AHCI/ RAID 0/ 1/ 5/ 10) by Intel® Z77

Yes the SSD's are different but and the two 128 Gig SSD's will waste or not use the extra 8 Gig but if you want a large data space and fast (Raid 0) then it will be the solution for you. There is no solid proof from anyone I have seen where different brand/controller SSD's will not work in RAID (yet). So far many people voice their concern or phobia against but no solid data/facts on the matter. Also, you will run at SATA 2  speeds due to the four SATA 2 ports you will use but its still possible.

Disclaimer: You still need to backup your data.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

If your on board controller fails most likely it is still under warranty (so you will get another exact one) and there is no solid evidence of that happening more under RAID settings than not.

How bad is it to fully RAID on all ports (combo SATA 2/SATA 3, with most likely SATA 2 being the speed overall), well if you are up to it you can set it up and run the benchmarks and prove or disprove it. If it fails then you can buy a RAID controller card instead. I'm guessing if you can buy 6 SSD's you can work your way into buying a RAID card for 8 ports.

i like to have a RAID controller but i dont have space to it.
