How else does an SSD help me apart from crazy booting speeds and faster game loading. Im a massive noob with SSDs because ive always thought they arent needed. Please try to change my line of thinking. If i am going to get an SSD what is the best cheap one(128gb).

They can take more of a beating than hard drives. They also lower power consumption and noise.

They just do them boot time's and less loading screens. And your system just generally feels a bit snappier

840 is good for budget

So far it doesnt seem like its worth the money. Id rather get a 7950 compared to a 7850 and an ssd. Maybe ill wait for prices to get even lower.

At least where i live it'd be a 787- and a ssd, But it's still a great addition to your system.

Honestly, anyone I've ever known who's switched to an SSD as their boot drive, has never went back. It's a subtle, but powerful difference.

It will increase the speed in which just about EVERYTHING happens. The most impressive is of course the boot time (Down to in some cases 10 to 30 seconds), wakeup time, hibernation time, etc.

Other improvements are your entire experience will feel snappier and more responsive. You'll never have to wait for the HDD to seek again. When you click on a folder, it'll open immediately, when you load a file, it'll load much faster, etc.

For games, there is less of an improvement. Game startup time will go down, and map/level loading times will drop a little bit. It honestly depends on the game, some will take more advantage of it than others.

It's hard to describe the impact it will have on your computing experience, but going to an SSD, then switching back to a HDD will feel SOOOOO slow.

Best 120/128GB SSD's in my mind:

Crucial M4 128GB

Samsung 840 120GB

Both can be had for around $100 (sometimes less) on sale on NCIX or Newegg.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

iPhone Xr 128 GB Product Red - HP Spectre x360 13" (i5 - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD) - HP ZBook 15v G5 15" (i7-8850H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P600)

The general system responsiveness increases.  Waiting for windows menus and opening control panel, things like that, waiting times for those disappear.  And other things like that all over the place.  It just generally improves the experience.  Also silent compared to noisy hard drives, and more reliable, and physical shock doesn't destroy them like hard drives.

Once you get an SSD, you'll never want to go back. They're that good, and certainly worth the price.
