Hi all,

I bought a Nexus 10 about 2 years ago.  Normal use for the tablet was as follows:

  • Used everyday after work heavily
  • Used on weekends heavily
  • Accompanied me on work trips regularly

Normally I left my tablet turned on and attached to the charger accept for when traveling.  Then I would use it on battery while in airports or in the plane and charge it every night.  I traveled about 50%of the time.

My battery lasted about 1.5 years and then it wouldn't keep it's charge after that and I would need top keep it plugged in at all times if I wanted to use it.

Now I an considering buying a new nexus 9 and I want to extend the battery life down as long as possible.  A few questions come to mind

  1. Should I turnoff my tablet when not in use?
  2. Should I use my tablet while it is puffed in or should I run it on battery?
  3. Should I keep the battery topped of as much as possible or should I let it draw down?
  4. Other ideas?

There is so much conflicting information and opinions out there that it is a bit confusing.  I see that different battery types should be handled differently but I am not sure how I should treat the Li-polymer battery to maximize is life span.

Thanks for any information.

1: Turn off, but not shut down.

2: On battery it will be slightly better.

3: It is best to stay between 30-70%  charge.

4: Don't worry, there isn't anything that will significantly help, just try too not let it overheat (eg. from leaving it on in a car in the sun). Nothing will make a very significant impact on life (besides killing it like with the heat eg.)

That guy is right

Cold will drain your battery faster but will not affect when your battery falls off the proverbial cliff of not lasting long.
