My laptop is broken and I need a new computer .

I have a limit of $2000aud, I want to have a great gaming experience but at the same time I need a laptop because I'm start university soon.

So my plan is to get a $1500 gaming rig and $500 laptop to use a service like Google's remote desktop that allows me to stream my desktop at home.

Is there and tips or help that anyone give me for this plan either from personal experience or other let me know. I.e. Better services than Google's solution.

Or if this idea sounds or works great let me know so I know I'm on the right track.

My logic :

So if I'm wrong tell me in chat and tell me the alternate solution.

So the concern I have with buy a $2000aud gaming laptop is that a. It's heavy at this price range and B it's not going to be as good as a $1500aud gaming desktop.

So by buying a $1500aud and a $500 laptop I can:

A. Keep all files in one place rather than starring an assignment at uni then transfer to save it at home. (I have considered cloud storage but my net caps fast and I need instant access to my work)

B. Because cheap laptops have cheaper parts doing this allows me to have several word docs. open at the same time as well as other applications. (I assume the way it work is that remote desktop just streams a screen as processes are done on the desktop)

C. Be all cool and say "yeah this is streaming from home"

(note:Try not to go over board with tech words I'm still a console scrub. )

I use googles remote desktop on my tablet and phone when i am away from home sometimes. Being on a tablet is a bit of a different experience from a laptop because i am a little limited as far as mouse and some keyboard controls (No right click). Other than that it is fine. I can have my computer run anything. I have even editied photos across the remote desktop with no problem.

i think your biggest problem will be data because you said you have a cap.

You can right click on a tablet with teamviewer.

You might be able to do it with chrome remote desktop, the same way. Just long press.

if there is a way i have not found it. Long press is just holding the left click or click and drag depending if you move the cursor or not.

You DO need a decent connection to your home for this to work. To quote some general help site on it:

A fast download speed is recommended, or you will experience lag. The remote computer is uploading at the same time. Therefore, your computer can only receive information as fast as the other computer can send it. Try not to use the Internet while TeamViewer is running, and limit usage from other devices that share the network.

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/K42wHx

just a quick update: this is my computer (Yes, it has to be black and blue)

I was wondering if there's anything wrong or is there something I should downgrade to upgrade later? is that too much to spend?
