Hi,

I want to use ddr3 2400 memory (2*8GB or 4*8GB, not sure yet), combined with noctua cooler - either nh-d14 or NH-U14s, and both have some memory compatability issues. The only brands that are OK with these coolers are G-skill and Kingston. How are these brands compared with Corsair which I know and like, and How are they compared which each other?

Thanks!

G.skill pretty much makes nothing but RAM so ya

And Kingston is VERY High quality.

Personally i like kingston more than corsair but they are a bit more depending on what model you get. and G.skill is amazing

Also get 2 8gb so you can upgrade later.

I'd go with Gskill, even if you could go with corsair.typically they're much cheaper and offer equal quality.

kingston is great too,but I prefer gskill personally.

Why 2400mhz?  It won't perform any better than 1600mhz.

G.Skill is pretty much the best in the business, and their customer support is sterling.  As said above though, RAM speed won't really get you any performance benefit except in specific types or applications.

I intend it for a 4770K machine. Thoughts?

Save your pennies and get some slow speed ram. I highly doubt you'll notice. I bought 2400mhz memory with Dominator Platinums. I wish I got some slower speed memory and I might have 32gb instead of 16gb to fill all my ram slots :)

So what speed do you recommend to purchase?and you're saying buy 32GB but not 2400?

I just upgraded from a Corsair kit to a Kingston 2133mhz kit, and i do like it, plus its lower profile than the Corsair kit i had.

just be carefull and get the better quaility kits. (Genesis)

I think he's saying 32GB rather than 16GB would have been a better thing to spend his money on than upping the speed of his 16GB to 2400MHz.  Although I say don't get either, stick with 16GB DDR3 1600 and pocket the savings :D

Spot on :)

But I would have preferred to spend the money for the extra ram to make it aesthetically pleasing rather than saying "I've got 2400mhz memory"

Ahem... coolers dont care which memory you are using. Only problem can be height but all major memory manufacturers have low profile memory avaivable. Corsair Vengeance LP, G.Skill Ares, Every Kingston without massive heatspreader. Memory height can be hard to find but bit googleing should do it. I know, I've done some.

Another question for you all: Do I need to keep in mind the memory's compatablity with the new MBs - like asus' or gigabyte'? I mean, Gskill for install - should it be OK to run (1600 or higher) on these boards without any compatability issues?

Tnx
