What HDD should I get?

Go to solution Solved by officiallyasimulator,

I should have been a bit more specific, I'm looking to replace my old HDD, I think it will die soon'ish. And I only have room for 1 HDD, so WD Blue won't really be enough :)

Ahhhh, i see. seagate barracudas have a low $/gb but they have a higher failure rate then WD drives. if you can afford it, definitely go for a WD Black.

Hey guys

The title pretty much says it all :)

I'm looking for a new HDD because my 1TB one, just isn't enough anymore. I have an 256GB SSD for OS and games, so I'm just looking for storage at the moment. I would prefer Western Digital, just because I have never had any problems with them. But I know that there is a lot of different 'types', like black and red. I know that red is mostly for nas. But what should I get, I don't really care for the best performing HDD, I would rather get a cheaper one. What would you guys recommend?

My setup: i5 3570K  - Corsair H100i - MSI Z77 GD65 - 256 GB Samsung 840 pro SSD - Corsair AX760i - Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce 2GB - 4x4 GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RAM - Corsair Carbide 500R (modded side window)

Okay thanks, I will see if I can get the money for a WD Black. Personally I won't go with seagate, I have had one, and it died very quick, so I'm not going back to them again anytime soon :)

:P

In all honesty OP, the difference in failure rate between WD and Seagate is negligible, I know people who've gotten DOA, failure after a week, month, year etc from both brands, it's really random.

Personally, I have a WD Blue and 2 Seagate NAS drives running in my server with over 4000 hours.
