Hello.

I am getting a new monitor for playing games and video editing and i really like LG 34UM95.

But, I am competetive player as well. Now i am playing on a 23", 1080p, 2ms response time TN panel.

I am a little bit afraid of 5ms response time of LG 34UM95. Is it going to affect my gameplay a lot? I like the monitor because its IPS, 21:9 (large space for video editing) and its 1440p. Ofc i will play competetive games at 16:9, but games like battlefield or assassins creed looks really nice on 21:9.

The question is the response time. If it cant really affect me a lot then i will go with LG 34UM95 rather than some other TN monitor. The games just looks so great on it.

Thank you very much for replying.  :)  :D

Found this from another forum.

"do not go by the response times listed. as skaz pointed out they often vary (by quite a good margin) depending on who does the test.

in general for 60hz signals you shouldnt have anything slower than 16ms maximum response time if you dont want issues. my old panel was a high quality 16ms rated version and it did fine.

deciding between 2ms and 5ms is splitting hairs. both are more than fast enough. pick which one has the other features you want."

I'm with the same advice as these guys, doesen't really matter IMO.

The problem with respons time is that there isn't any unified standard for measuring it- Some companies to grey-to-grey response time, some do black-to-black response time and some compaines probably do something third.

You will do just fine with the LG 34UM95.

lol 5ms ips is nothing to be afraid of, switching over to a lg29um65 and even the lg25um64 s that I currently use there was no difference from 1ms gaming monitor I have under my bed. It's not going to effect your gaming, response time between tn and ips is greatly exaggerated . TN should really only be used if you are some sort of professional gamer the requires the absolute best response time possible. And you would be insane to get a 21:9 just to play at 16:9 competatively. You get a huge advantage over everyone using 21:9. It's like having 150 fov with your fov slider set to 110. You see so much more without the game warping the image.  I believe the lg panel is 5ms grey to grey, although I have also seen listings of 14ms all over the place. Neither one matter because there is no input lag on my monitor.
