A few days ago I upgraded my computer processor (old: Intel Core i3-2100 @3.1 GHz; new: Intel Core i5-4690k @ 3.5 GHz (no overclock)), my Motherboard (new: Asus Z87-C) and I've got an SSD (Samsung 250 GB 840 EVO). With my old comp specs I was getting decent fps (60-130) in games like CoD: Black Ops II and Crysis 2: Maximum Edition, now, for some reason, I get less fps in those games (40-90) with the same graphics setup. Also, I can hardly run Far Cry 4 (40 fps @ medium graphics settings) or Serious Sam 3:BFE (18-70fps @ Ultra graphics settings). I tried running CoD: AW but every time I was entering the Online Menu, it was freezing and sometimes my video driver was crashing. I tried many things to make it work at least the same but nothing worked. I talked to some of my friends who know more stuff then I do in this domain but they can't figure out the problem either. My graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2 GB (Manufacturer: MSI) and I have 8 GB of RAM DDR3 @ 1333 MHz. It would be nice if someone could figure out this problem and give me a solution. My OS is Windows 8 64 bit. Thank you!  :)

I'm just going to ask, you did a clean install of windows right?

Sorry it took me so long.

Hmm, your new cpu is supported, I don´t see the problem

Try turning Vsync on (save) and disabling vsync (save)

If it didn´t work
Can you try to uninstall a game and delete all the files that belong to this game including the registry (ccleaner)

and reinstall it.

  • 2 weeks later...

the cmos update would have been after the new install......... you did a fresh install on the operating system? SSD was set to AHCI before install? you did your windows updates over and over intil nothing could be had? SSD is set to run properly? did you check for a firmware update at the SSD man.'s site?  if you uninstall the graphics card from the device manager and reboot/windows will find card/then install new drivers............ does that help?

another thing... did you pull the board to install the cpu heat sink? i find it's best with intel HS combos because of the crappy way they install. easy to have them look right but be slightly cocked and not provide proper cooliong. this will make the cpu throttle and sometimes go belly up.
