Hi,
I was wondering if it would be better to get SLI 290X (8GB) or SLI 980 (4GB) or wait until the GTX 980 8GB come out to SLI them I want to run dual 1440p monitors at very high FPS. I might upgrade to 4k soon. I was going to get SLI 980, but I saw the 290X for cheaper and more VRAM, so though I might get that. Then I found out that the 8GB 980 might be coming out soon, so might SLI those when they come out. I also heard that the 390x is coming soon, with super fast ultra next gen specs, with RAM upto speeds of 640GB/sec. I need help choosing what GPU

You don't need more than 4GB of VRAM. Hell when LMG did their video on 11320x1440p on 8GB R9 290X they were only able to go above 4GB of VRAM usage 2 or 3 times so you will NOT need it for regular 1440p. IMO you are better off getting the SLI 980 unless the price difference is pretty big between the R9 290x and GTX 980

The R9 390x will probably be released around Q2/Q3 2015.
