I've just built my first pc and now I want to overclock my cpu but I don't know what to put in. Any suggestions?

Set voltage to 1.3, and multiplier to 40 or 41, and test stability. If it passes, increase multiplier until it's unstable, then either lower multiplier or increase voltage to make it stable.

depending on the mobo, some of the OC presets are great starting points for beginners

The MSI Z97-G43

 check the bios and look for an auto OC option try turbo @4.2 ghz then download intel XTU and stress test it for about 5 min
