Story

 

got a new computer and everything works but the first part that arrived was the SSD so i got my brother to format it for me and he partitioned it thinking it would help me long term.

now windows 8.1 wont install on in so is it possible to install it on my hard drive and the delete the partition and move it to the SSD

So you want to remove the ssd partitions and install windows on it???

 

 

 

Also its not possible to move an installation of windows 8 from a HDD to an SSD

there was a thread (read here a long time ago so dont ask for a link)where the guy was complaining over issues with his cloned OS. They all said : a fresh install is better.( the pc i think kept shutting down)

Cloning is fine as long as the source is problem free, clone a HD with an issues and you'll end up with the same issue.

@OP just boot from the windows disc and you'll be given the option to format the drive. That said there shouldn't be an issue with a pre formatted drive unless your machine is running with the CSM disabled in which case Windows must be installed to a GPT partition.
