Adapter in PCIE

Go to solution Solved by NeatSquidYT,

Any powerline recommend for me? I'm upstairs while the router is downstairs btw.

I personally use this setup:

Some Devolo ones downstairs (they're good, but overpriced)

In my room, I use these : http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-PA411KIT-Powerline-Adapter-Starter/dp/B0084Y9N3O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418490928&sr=8-1&keywords=tp+link+powerline . You'll have to ask someone else wether you can use them to put in an Ethernet connection from your router, sorry I don't know, and this Ethernet switch http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-5-port-Gigabit-Ethernet-Switch/dp/B0000E5SEQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418491036&sr=8-1&keywords=netgear+switch so that I can use it on a lot of stuff. You don't need the switch, but I use one personally as it makes sense for me.

No.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

PCIe 1.x 2.5GT/s 2Gbps ~250MB/s ~8GB/s
PCIe 2.x 5.0GT/s 4Gbps ~500MB/s ~16GB/s
PCIe 3.0 8.0GT/s 8Gbps ~1GB/s ~32GB/s

No, It will not have Any impact on the bandwith, Unless you are using a 64Gbit/s internet.

Also i dont know what wireless adapter to buy. My mom's routeris downstairs, and in my room my iphone wifi signal keeps fluncating, so i'm not sure if i should spend a 100, or less on one. But on my laptop is usually 3/4 bars of wifi signal.

Personally, my experience with WiFi cards have been Very bad, They keept on failing for me so i drilled a hole in the wall for a ethernet cable.

But you can use a ZyXel 200mbit/s powerline switch for example, It will work Much better than Any wifi-card.

It is 2 adapters, You put them in the power outlets and the data is transferred from the router via a ethernet cable to the powerline adapter through the power cables in your wall to the other powerline adapter and after that to your computer.

Router > Ethernet Cable > Powerline Switch 1 > Powerline > Powerline Switch 2 > Ethernet Cable > Computer

It is like using a regular ethernet cable but instead you use the already in place power cables in the walls.

So there will be two wifi's? or will it automatically work once pluged in the computer? like a enthernet cable?

There is no wifi involved, If it simpy is "plug and play" depends on which one you choose, The Zyxel one work s by pressing a button on the switch that is connected to the router and it works.

Is it better than Wireless?

A butt tonne better. It's not exactly the same as Ethernet, but it's somewhat close. Wireless is shite.

The only problem is it relies on your home wiring. If it's an old house, it probably won't work that well.

It depends on what type of wire was used when they built the house, Usually it is regular 1,5mm2 copper cable or something similar.

As long as the computer can power up, the cable is probably good enough to support a connection.
