will this build work?

Go to solution Solved by OhhTee,

Why not grab the GTX 970 instead of the R9 290x?

I would also replace the RM with a 750W G2 EVGA, it's a better PSU.

You could also grab an mx100 256 GB instead of that Intel 530 with another $20 or so.

Possibly change the h100i too if you're planning on using Windows 8.1. I heard there are software issues for the corsair link and also mounting issues.

The Antec HCG 620M is built by Seasonic. It is a good choice if you want to save a few dollars. The EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR is a very good buy right now, but is more than you need and is around CA$25 more than the Antec. The two other Seasonics I linked are between the these two cost and quality wise. Any of these psu will do a good job for you.

BTW

Liquid cooling gpu will get a little more performance out of them but there is no need to go that far. GPU with non-reference coolers like the EVGA ACX 2.0, Asus Strix, and MSI Twin Frozr will give decent overclocks. But even gpu with reference coolers will generally overclock a bit.

so no need to watercool it or buy anything extra?

perfect, thank you so much.

heres the final build with all the segestions http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/bWbB4D

i got the g2 purely because it has nicer cables that will go with the color scheme:P

Nice. You might want to consider a different GTX 970 - the Asus STRIXGTX970DC2OC4GD5 or EVGA 04G-P4-2972-KR. The Gigabyte is designed for mITX builds.

NCIX, will often price match as will Canada Computers. Both have multiple retail locations in the GTA so you can order online and pickup in-store, saving shipping and insurance costs.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
