If you plan on upgrading (which i reccomend you do, 4 gigs kinda sorta isnt enough), go with the 1 stick of 4GB. it'll let you expand to 16 GB if you have a 4 ram slot mobo

The overall best choice is a 4gb stick since you can add more of them, So you keep the expandability.

my board is duke channel so wouldn't it be more efficient to get 2 2 gig sticks and when I got a job just get 2 4 gig sticks because it's not that much and a mini I wage job is be able to buy the ram with my first pay check

Using dual channel only gives you about 1 to 3% more performance, It is not noticable when gaming and regular tasks.

The only time you might see a difference is when you render videos, that takes more than a couple of hours to render.

When gaming heavily 4gb is a bit low, Getting 8gb later would give you 10-50% better performance depending on the game and hardware.

I'd say do as they say go with 1 4 GB stick, because 2/2 now and then 2/4 you'll be wasting about 30-40$ or your regional equivalent.

8GB is the true target here friend (for any gamer machine this days)

grab the 1x4GB dimm (and buy one 4GB more in the future)

the 2x2GB days have end  :blush:

APU = A10
