Asus Matrix 7970 giving a very low F@H score

Go to solution Solved by tobben,

it's working on core 17 wu's, and you are 100% confident you have entered a

passkey that is eligible for the QRB points?

I am suspecting the passkey might be the culprit, what's your tpf and what wu

are you working on?

Hello people,

Ever since I had my old reference 7970 RMA'd for a Matrix 7970 card, my PPD has been rockbottom low. With the reference card I used to have I had around 100 000 PPD easily, but my Matrix card barely spits out 30 000 PPD. Whats up with this? Ive gone through serveral reinstallations of Windows 7 and new drivers since then, but nothing has helped.

Does anyone have any ideas?

As far as I know, yes. Ive not benchmarked or anything, but Ive not noticed anything different, really.

Ive actually not used a passkey before. I added one now though. Will see what happens. But please explain, whats QRB?

Wow. It might be early to say, but, GPU + CPU (Phenom II x6 1100T) is now giving a combined score of roughly 104 120. Seems like this was the issue! How weird, I always thought it was the GPU being bad at folding or something (Seeing as how bad Matrix cards are at scrypt mining).

It stands for quick return bonus. Basically the faster you finish the wu

the more points you receive. Right now you are only receiving the base

credit for each wu and no bonus points, thus the low point return.

I would make a guess and say that your tpf(time per frame) is most

likely where it should be, meaning your gpu is working just fine.

When you return 10 QRB eligible wu's using the passkey, with a return

rate of atleast (i think it was 80%) you will qualify for the bonus points.

You can refer to the stickie for some terminology explanations

(6'th from the bottom) and other useful info.

Thank you for your help. Yes, it seems it was the passkey that was the problem. Weird! I never used a passkey before and back then it was no problem. Im not a folding enthusiast, so I dont do any reading or research about it, I just let the client run whenever I dont play games.
