So I've owned an Alienware for a few years now. It was given to me as a gift, and it's what got me into PC's in generally. But I'm finally going to build one myself, and I've assembled this list of all the parts. I've done a fair amount of research, but I'd like hear from you guys. Are any of these parts low quality? Are there any obvious bottlenecks in the system? Most importantly, is there anywhere I can cut unnecessary costs?

- CPU: Intel i5-4690k

- Motherboard: ASUS Z97-AR LGA 1150 Intel

- Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB

- Storage: 120 GB Samsung SSD + 1TB Segate HDD

- GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G

- Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl)

- Power Supply: Corsair 600W

So that's what I have planned out. Like I said, if anyone see's something they think is a bad idea, I would love to hear it. I'm blowing quite a bit of cash on this, so I'd like to do it right.

I'd go with the Gigabyte G1 gaming 970 instead, and something like an EVGA G2 750w psu.

That looks like an excellent build, every component is from an excellent brand. You've definitely done your research.

I would recommend that you get a Coolermaster Hyper 212 evo. It's about 30 bucks and even if you're not overclocking, it's worth it.

I concur.  The EVGA is a much higher quality product at the same price as many of Corsair PSUs, if not cheaper in some cases.  The GPU is your personal choice.  I'm going for the G1 because I need the extra cooling performance, but the MSI is still good - I was leaning towards it for a while because the standard red/black colour scheme always looks good.  Though now that I've opted for the G1, I'm getting some blue LED case fans to match the G1's illuminated logo.  :P

I also agree.  Much better than the stock cooler, and the best price/performance ratio of any air cooler on the market.  If you do intent to overclock in future, you can always upgrade to an AIO liquid cooler sometime in the future if it doesn't fit into your budget at the moment.
