PC Not posting

Go to solution Solved by Katsu-K1L,

What are his complete specs?

OK.. so either the PSU is dead, the front I/O buttons arent connected, or the computer isnt plugged in

Nothing happens at all

check if the put the 6 pins for the GPU the wrong way. the ones supposed to go in the gpu is in the psu. then the psu will only make a click sound ( protection mode kicked in )

Perhaps if the rig is brand new one of the components is DOA, might try throwing them one by one into another rig you know works to see if tney all work properly.

mobo standofs, 24pin, 8pin, pci-e connectors

Did he install motherboard standoffs? That always gets me.

Seems like he connected the wrong cable to the CPU Power socket.

okay so my friend just finished building his pc and its not posting and not even turning on, i told him to check the front i/o connectors but it seems like the only the LED lights turn on, nothing else.

he tried start the PC by connecting the Pins with a key but that doesn't work either.

and yea he's using a Coolermaster K350 and Asrock 970 pro3 R2.0

My PC

errr.... IDK off the top of my head if an 8pin ATX cable and the 8PIN cpu cable use the same voltage and pin-layout... your friend might have destoryed his CPU and/or motherboard

lol no.. standoffs have nothing to do with posting (unless of course the MOBO was installed without standoffs, which could destroy the motherboard)

Mine wouldn't POST because the standoffs create a ground between the mobo and case, right? Mine wouldn't even turn on before I installed them.
