Noob question about SSDs

Go to solution Solved by Dredgy,

@profesorfrink42 There is an SSD mount on that case, it's on the bottom in front of the power supply and you have to screw in from underneath.

Hi there, I'm planning on building something pretty similar to the "Just Game" setup (

)

I'm planning on getting a Cooler Master K280. However, I've never dealt with SSDs (or simply 2.5inch drives) before, other than in a laptop. Since it's not explicitly stated in the video, do I need some kind of bracket/adapter from 3.5 to 2.5 to install an SSD in that case? I'm guessing I do but better to be safe than to be sorry.

Thanks in advance! Oh, and, if you have any other suggestions for cheap cases, I'll be glad to hear them.

Some SSDs come with the adapter, most don't. You really don't need the adapter as SSDs don't have any moving parts.

I'v sometimes used double sided tape to stick them to parts of the cases.

I doubt you will need a bracket for it. On the manufacturers page it says that it has one 2.5inch mount, I can't however see where it is, on the pictures. But you could watch some reviews on the case, they might show or tell you where it is

My setup: i5 3570K  - Corsair H100i - MSI Z77 GD65 - 256 GB Samsung 840 pro SSD - Corsair AX760i - Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce 2GB - 4x4 GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer RAM - Corsair Carbide 500R (modded side window)

You can place the SSDs almost anywhere, heck you can even double side tape it somewhere. Dont need to waste $$ buying a bracket

Depends on the SSD. Some of them come with adapters, but most of them don't. It also depends on the Case. Most cases now have mounting options for 2.5" drives, but most older ones don't.

Right, I think I just noticed it in this pic:

I'm guessing those are the two holes to get the SSD fixed in place. Nice! Thanks for the helpful responses!
