Initial Boot Test Issue

Go to solution Solved by -MOBIUS-,

Well you definitely need a CPU

So here's my issue. My PC is nearly fully build. Except for the fact that i've left the most expnsive parts till last.

970

i7 5820K

HyperX 16GB DDR4 RAM
Samsung 850 PRO SSD

....and basically i've just realised that i need to test the components that i currently have.

So me derping at at 4:20am... i've noticed that i only have enough money to get one more item. Now the question is. Which item can i startup my computer with, without the remaining 4...

This is probably a really dumb question but i'm guessing i need to get the Processor and the Graphics Card to even remotely start looking for boot issues...

Oh and the SSD isnt a major issue, i can just use my laptops and i already ordered a 3TB HDD, so that's fine.

I'm also aware i can boot without RAM but i'm not sure about the processor or graphics card. I'm guessing that i need them both to do anything further....

My motherboard is the new X99 MSI SLI Plus if that helps...

Looks like that's my next buy then!

you need a cpu, you need a gpu, you need ram, and you need something to put windows on and thats what you are getting the ssd for. so you will have to completely wipe the setup if you want to move windows over to the ssd when you get it.

answer nothing. buy it all at the same time.

this rig better not just be for gaming....

My pc is for Gaming and Modelling as well as Rendering. Plus the SSD has nothing to do with my inital test boot... Either way i can just clone my laptop SSD once i get my PC one. All i'm doing is installing the parts that i have then booting to see if they all function. I'm not looking for a picture or anything. Just an inital boot to see if my parts work! With no RAM i'll get the beeping function that is common but i was just curious about the processor and graphics card that's all mainly. I looked around abit more whilst waiting for replys and i should be able to buy my processor then boot the pc and i should hear a beeping sound alerting me of no memory/video card. Therefore i can tell that the parts in the PC work to some extent. Thanks guys for the small troubleshoot. I have a major brain fart!

Basically:

Power - Beep - Power Down.

Nothing special, just an inital test of parts to see if they all sync up and respond. Sorry about that! Massive brain fart!

Processor's don;t have built in GPU's it seems anymore. They're kinda being phased out.
