Which SSD?

Hey guys I am shopping around for an SSD for my new gaming build, I will have this SSD for the OS and some apps, I will put my games on a 1TB Blue.

The SSD needs to be 256/250GB, and can't cost more than $170 AUD

My initial choice was the MX100, because I have one in my laptop and it's great, I didn't choose the 840 EVO because of the read degradation problems and TLC is not very high endurance.

Now as you may or may not know the 850 Evo with TLC, BUT 3D stacked TLC, was announced yesterday, and I have held back from buying an SSD, I want to know when do you think the 850 Evo will be up for purchase or even pre-order in Aus?

Should I just go for the MX100 or wait? I am becoming very impatient, I know the 850 evo will be much better than the MX100 but I just can't wait that long.

read degradation have been fixed through firmware updates for the 840 EVO, and endurance .. just a gimmick .. when is the last time you heard someones SSD failed because of high usage?

 

Anways the 850 Evo will be available by January max.

Yeah I know it was fixed but I still don't like TLC flash, 3D stacked TLC is cool with me, I won't buy a 840 evo since the 850 evo is announced and I don't want SSD envy.

Damn I can't wait until Jan

But I won't have a boot drive til then :(

I am holding my self from going complete YOLO and getting a 850 Pro

(999th post!!)

 

850 Pro is better than the 850 EVO in terms of performance .. but not price .. I bought two 850 Pros :)

I tough that 850 evo has up to 15% increased performance than 850 pro
