Personally I like NVIDIA so I would go with the 970. Do you have any preferences? I'm really not to knowledgeable on AMD GPUs but I would think the 970 would consume a lot less power thanks to Maxwell. Also features like ShadowPlay among others are nice. Both I'm sure would be great cards.

Nobody uses gimmicks like ... "Shadowplay" LOL the benefits a dubious at best. Nobody records gameplay for any real benefit. ... Do you think I want to watch you play some dam game ? Fuck no !

Oh my God........do you realize how stupid that statement is? A relatively small % might use ShadowPlay compared to other recording options, do you realize how many people upload gameplay to YouTube and stream to Twitch? Nobody records gameplay for any real benefit? You realize there are YouTubers out there uploading Xbox games making more than your parents probably do in a year right? People make a living off streaming/uploading, it's not even rare.

Now if you personally don't want to watch someone play a game that's perfectly fine. But saying that recording gameplay has no benefit, there are thousands of people who like to just upload gameplay for fun. I have to mention Twitch as well, because even though you didn't mention it I feel your statement of "Do you think I want to watch you play some dam game ? Fuck no !" applies equally to streaming as it does uploading. There are thousands, no, hundreds of thousands of people watching Twitch every day. I don't even want to imagine the amount of people watching gameplay on YouTube.

Furthermore, competitive players (people who go to LANs and compete for money) may wish to record their gameplay to review at a later date to improve on, just another thought to add to the endless list.

Sorry for the rant but your statement insinuating that a route of recording gameplay is so stupid and has "no benefit" is so ridiculous it's unbelievable. As I mentioned earlier if you don't give 2 shits about watching someone play a game that's all good and dandy but saying it's a useless feature with no benefit is mind blowing......

who pissed in your morning cereal I/O?   you know that saying..."If you can't say something nice, then don't say nothing at all"

Well TBH low overhead video capture software has been around for awhile. I am not buying a GPU to cap software I am buying a GPU to play fucking computer video games. If you want the best video capture hardware then buy a god dam video capture card for fucking god dam sakes. Moroz Video Capture which was made many years ago is just as good as nvidia garbage for fuck sakes !

Why buy a capture card when you basically get one built into your GPU for no extra charge? Once again you are making a completely mind blowing statement. Unless you thought the quality of a separate capture card was so much better that would be a reason to buy it. But it comes as a free feature so it's basically saving you $100+ dollars if you wanted to buy a dedicated capture card. Yea there is even free software out there but sheesh......this is free too, and it hogs none of your PC's resources as your GPU is doing the work. Another benefit maybe for people who don't have great CPUs.

The claims you provide are of dubious value at best. When consumers are looking to play games they don't give a fuck about recording the games they play ... they want/need frame rates not a gimmick they will use once for no reason just to use it.

Remember this is your opinion, you may think this is stupid but others may like it. Do you think the team at NVIDIA would spend time developing this if they thought nobody would use it? Personally I think it's a great FREE add on for an already great card for people interested in recording gameplay.

It's not even a main selling point of the card. They want/need frame rates eh? You're making it sound like the GTX 970 gives you ShadowPlay BUT NOT excellent frame rates..........

Like I said you make it sound like the GTX 970 gives you ShadowPlay and shitty frame rates. No, it's a great card with excellent frame rates and people will buy it for that reason. Shadowplay is merely a bonus for people interested in it. My brain is still short circuiting over your earlier statements.......

Maybe you never use it but who know maybe Op find the extra "gimmicks" useful. Don't be a douche to someone because he like something your don't like.

Op is a "Professional Youtube gamer" sorry I did not know .

You obviously just don't know or understand the interest for recording game play. You don't have to be a professional by any means. Even people with incredibly low sub counts on YouTube upload regularly to share stuff with their friends or hope to get noticed. Maybe they are into video editing and enjoy editing their game play into something unique.

It's a HOBBY for many people regardless of how popular they are and if you are unwilling to accept the potential interest for this by people other than yourself we're done here lmao.

Well if OP makes money off recording game play's then I could see the benefit of enhanced recording capabilities. Then again if that was the case then he would already have a proper capture card and software to make benefit of this enhanced income right ? Otherwise the benefit is dubious at best ... a gimmick even !

Op just want to know which card he should get so why do you have to go on a rant about shadow play ? With or without shadow play the 970 is still a better card.

He's too far in the hole now to even turn back and show any signs of reasoning. If he did he would probably just look foolish considering how stubborn he's been acting.

Cartman BraHHHH!

lol Shadowplay came in very handy for me when trying to explain texture pop-in in a game. I was able to record and show the forums what I was trying to explain.

Edit- while on the subject of watching people play a game, did anyone see the 8 minute playthrough of the first Castlevania? holy shiy that blew my mind!! 8 fucking minutes!!!!
